What A Difference A Beanie Made

If you recall I had frogged a beanie that had started to unravel after drying it. I decided to add it to my new triangle shawl I had started. It added another 5 rows after I finished adding the beanie. I decided to call it the Heart of Pink Skrappy Shawl. I have not worked on it since. I have not decided what scrap yarn to add next.

I spent the rest of the weekend making hats for my grandsons. I wanted to get a new Santa Hat made for Marty, he out grew the first one it  can be passed on to his little brother Connor this year. I did not alter the pattern this time. I followed the instructions for the small-sized hat. I made the brim 18 inches. I stretched it out before I seamed the ends together to 21 inches. It should fit him for quite a few years.

A Summer Beanie for Martin

My grandson Marty was in need of a new beanie. His hair has grown out, so it gets in the way when he is eating. He gets very upset by it. His Mama asks him if he wants his hair cut, but he says no. So Mama puts on his chevron beanie to keep his hair away from his mouth while he eats. It is summer now and he gets a bit hot wearing his beanie. So his Mama suggested I make him a summery type beanie.

I had some sport weight yarn just sitting around so I would use it to make a light summer beanie.I had two different patterns in mind that I could use. I checked the first one but I thought this one’s holes were too big. The next pattern was just what I had in mind. It fit the bill.
